Your Iinvestment Philosophy in 10 words or less
I came across this wonderful article by Jason Zweig of the Wall Street Journal and thought I would share it. Really thought provoking.

http://blogs.wsj.com/totalreturn/2012/01/27/can-you-sum-up-your-investing-philosophy-in-10-words/

I especially like the one from Chris Davis, but he missed the BI principals:

Invest regularly, re-invest earnings, invest in growth companies and diversify.

What are your 10 words?

Good topic Mark.

This works well for me:

Select quality and value, have patience, do not waste money.

Here's another set I started thinking of while I was exercising last night. My husband helped flesh it out to 10. Does anyone else have any to add?

  • Proven
  • Persistent
  • Predictable
  • Profitable
  • Prospects
  • Products
  • Projections
  • Principles
  • Practice
  • Patience

It sounds like you need to spend some time as a member of an investment club so you can learn more about investing. That is the reason most of us have joined clubs and many of us have been members for many years.

While there is some luck involved with investing, I think this list includes many people who would tell you that Rule no. 1 is no longer ???

O

This is a good one. It's a good point that it is much better to have compound interest going for you than against you!

I think the point of that quote is capital is the scarcest of all resources and you need to protect it. Don't put your capital at risk on flyers. You need to make sure that your risk/reward of any asset you are investing in is in fact heavily tilted in favor of more reward than risk with conservative estimates to give you a margin of safety. Lost capital can not be replaced.
