Finviz
I use Finviz to help screen stocks. It has lots of
screening tools available, especially the Fundamentals tab
where you can screen for P/E, sales, etc. and set min/max to
reduce the number of stocks. It should be listing on the
tools list because it is useful and it is free.
Dear Laura,

Thank you for your suggestion. I've added a link to Finviz to the club resources page.

Do any others of you use this site for information? If so, what do you find most useful there?

It looks like they have a lot of information available and a nice stock screener.

Anyone coming to the InvestEd conference in Charlotte, June 8-10?
I'll be giving a one-hour seminar called So Many Stocks; So Little Time. It's all about how you can easily winnow down thousands of stocks into a small handful "for further analysis". Finviz is my primary tool, and I'll be showing how to get the most out of that website. I'll also be covering several sites with pre-set screens and a site that can be used as an alterative to the SSG. Hope to see you there!
Here's the website for the conference: http://www.investedinc.org/ Click on Conference at the top and you can peruse the classes and instructor profiles under "Sessions" and "Team".
Laurie, I'll send my handout for the Finviz class after the event. You can post it somewhere.

I was introduced to FINVIZ some time ago and have found it invaluable when I'm analyzing an industry/sector/stock - - -
Explore the heat maps and groups - use the tabbed menus across the top along with the drop down menu's in Groups and the zoom in/out capabilities of the heat maps -
In addition, I'm sure you can find a unique data point or three on the data table that is difficult to impossible to find elsewhere.

Explore and enjoy the Ah Ha of discovery.

Laurie, after hearing from Bob, Laura and Lynn about Finviz, and seeing it the other night in a webinar by Carol Theine, this tool looks extremely interesting.  (I use a couple of other sites; maybe it's time to branch out.)  Do you think you could get someone from Finviz to put together a short webinar?

Roy,

I have been unable find more information concerning your mention of a webinar by Carol Theine that apparently had some content concerning Finviz. Can you give more details?

Marty Eckerle

The Puget Sound Chapter presented webinars on Portfolio Management.  On the last night, Carol discussed how to find stocks to challenge present holdings.  Finviz was one she briefly showed for screening stocks.

How about asking Lynne Ostrem if she can repeat her  1 hour seminar for club cafe?  It's pretty far to travel from California to North Carolina.

That's certainly a possibility.
