I have been a member of at least one investment club since 1998. I had a club meeting last night.

Like many days of many of my club meetings over the years, I was incredibly busy with other things and had no clue how I was going to have time to get anything done for the meeting. But, like most of those other times, I did do something. I didn't do everything I wanted to, but it turns out that things tend to work like the story about Stone soup. What I did do, in combination with what everyone else managed to do, resulted in a really nice and productive meeting.

This morning I sit here feeling really good about the time that I spent with my friends. We've been a club now for three years and are really hitting our stride. I can see where others have learned a lot and I know I have also. If I hadn't taken the time to stretch a little each month to fit this into my busy schedule, I'd have missed out on a lot. If I hadn't had a club meeting on the calendar, I probably wouldn't have put the time into thinking about investing and I wouldn't have made any progress in getting better at it.

Sometimes showing up is 9/10 of the battle. Take the time to do that and I bet you'll be glad you did.
