ADR
My club is considering its first ADR buy, Yandex, are there
any issues for record-keeping or tax records for this stock?

Mary Fran Novak
Dear Mary Fran,

In general, no problem. You can track ADR's in bivio. The biggest complication I see, especially with smaller ones like this, is that they can have things like reorganizations and special distributions which we need to account for and you may need to report taxes on. Sometimes the information about how these things should be handled from a tax perspective is very hard to find and accounting details can get lost in translations. This makes it difficult for us and your broker to determine how any distributions should be handled from a US tax perspective. Sometimes this can cause a delay for your club in doing your monthly accounting or filing your taxes while everyone gets things sorted out.

Just like your investing, I'd recommend that if you are going to invest in something like this, that you be comfortable reading their financial reports and understanding what is going on in their business. It will not only help you in making your investing decisions, it will help you understand details if they do go through some sort of reorganization.
