Giving K-1s to members (include state too?)
It is at this time of year that I am reminded what a bargain the Bivio service is. Thanks Bivio!

I have done the club taxes & distributed most as paper copies at the club meeting. I printed the club's Federal & State PDFs as generated by Bivio and grabbed member forms out of that stack. I'll reprint to send a complete stack to the IRS & State.

[x] I gave each member present at the meeting their 1 page federal K-1.
[?] I also gave them their California pages too, but maybe that is unnecessary?
[x] plus I will give the withdrawn members their withdrawal report from the end of the Fed K-1 PDF stack.

Even though this is not a big deal either way I still have some to distribute and if I don't need to give them the state forms, I still have an opportunity not to.

Best,
 Dave Nathanson
 Hawaiian Shirt Society

Thanks Dave.

You need to give each member a copy of the K-1 instructions (page 2) also. There is a link to it on the Accounting>Taxes page.

You do have to give any member who resides in CA their copy of their CA information.

If your members have online access they can login and get their federal and state forms themselves. Then you'd just have to give out any withdrawal reports that needed to be distributed.

I too like Bivio. I send the electronic forms to local UPS store for printing 3 copies for government, members and me.

I'd be very cautious about sending that file to a public facility for printing.  The file contains SS numbers on your members K-1's.

If the withdrawing members still have access to bivio, can't they print out their own withdrawal reports, like the K-1's?

Why would you continue to give a withdrawn member access to bivio?  Once their withdrawal is complete their access to bivio would terminate; I would think.

Many clubs allow withdrawn members access to bivio so that they can retrieve their tax documents at the end of the year. Once the final K-1 is retrieved they remove access.

Hi,

A member who can still login can get their withdrawal report themselves also but it is not in the same place as they get their K-1.

They need to to this:

1. Go to Accounting>Reports

2. Click on the Withdrawal report link toward the bottom left side of the page.

3. Click on all reports with their name on it for the year in question.

That will pull up the report and they can print it for their records.
