Seems to me it's about time a mobile version of bivio was made available. I reached out to "support@bivio.com", and was told that they prioritize new functionality and features based on user requests, and that a mobile app has not been at the top of the list of requests. I have not seen much new functionality added to the site, so I am not sure what else they are working on, but there has to be an appetite for a web app among the bivio user community. If you'd like to see a web app, please contact bivio and let them know! Hi I have no interest in paying more for a mobile version. Steve Elberts On Thu, Feb 1, 2018 at 8:01 AM Kenneth E. Seems to me it's about time a mobile version of bivio was Good point re: not being willing to pay more for a mobile app, but cannot believe that bivio would have to charge more. It seems to me that mobile availability/access is the cost of doing business today, and that our current annual fees should cover at least a basic mobile app. None of the banks, brokerages, stores, restaurants, utilities, or other web services that I use charge for use of their mobile apps. I just wanted to raise the issue since my response from bivio was basically "we'd make it a priority if people asked for it". The bivio website is the same as it was when our club joined nearly 10 years ago; some technological improvements to the site and access to it are certainly overdue. Thanks for your feedback. Hopefully others will share theirs as well. I am not necessarily for or against a mobile version. Just sharing some food for thought... A phone app wouldn't work for me as is necessitates too small a font. iPad/tablet app with larger size would be my druthers. Typically I just respond to daily/weekly tasks using the link in the email to my club account for filling in details of transactions that need info beyond that provided by AccountSync. Not sure that an app does anything that increases ease of use or simplicity of interface that the email link doesn't already provide... For more labor intensive tasks such as annual audit or withdrawal, I get on laptop instead of tablet anyway since I want bigger fonts, while seeing larger document views and want the memory available for going between windows and other additional pluses of a laptop. If bivio were to make an app, the coding necessity includes both iOS and android operating systems, for phone and tablet, with each of the four apps (phone iOS/Android and tablet iOS/Android) requiring functionality as well as security. When I look over all the above, I am not sure the "juice is worth the squeeze", either for bivio as developers or customers as users. My $0.02, Irina Clements, Treasurer Streetbeaters Investment Club
I wouldn't use it whether it cost more or not. Although I don't see that it would cost more. Kim Potter BI Brighton Model Club Treasurer The banks may not be charging to use their mobile app, but they are recouping their costs to develop and maintain multiple versions of new software code somehow. bivio would have to do likewise. I agree with Irina's comments. bivio is not something I need to access multiple times a day. My main use is just before our monthly meeting when I process the autopay of member capital contributions, verify accuracy of autosync transactions, and prepare reports. All done on a desktop or laptop, if traveling. I cannot image when I would have a use for a phone app. Web browser on phone would do in a pinch. Only change I would like on the "to do" list, would be add the login and password fields to the home page; in order to eliminate necessity of clicking to second page to log in. Jack Ranby, Treasurer Grants Partners Investment Club Changing to a mobile-friendly site is not easy. There is quite a lot of engineering needed to accomplish the task, engineering which is expensive. I don’t know anything about Bivio’s financial situation, but I doubt they have cash reserves to accomplish such extensive work. Thus, if Bivio were to engage in a change-over, they would likely increase prices. I look at our club’s Bivio account very seldom, maybe twice a month as I prepare for the next meeting. And since we have laptops at our meeting, we can access the site easily if we need to verify something. As others have said, I don’t need mobile access for this, plus larger fonts are welcome to these eyes.
