Subscription renewal for taxes only?
Hello all,
After 22 years, our club is disbanding. We've sold all the
shares and I will be distributing the money by the end of
the year to make a nice clean tax season.

My question is, our Bivio subscription is up on 1/21/2020.
Do I need to renew for the entire year, just to get the tax
module? Or, do you have a "taxes only" option. I'd rather
not pay for the entire year just for the taxes. Thanks in
advance, Kimberly
Kimberly: there must be something in the water or air--our club disbanded in July after 23 years, the members were paid off and the books effectively closed. As club treasurer, I faced the same situation you're in now. bivio was not very accommodating, indicating that if I wanted our taxes done by them, I'd have to renew the subscription. Nice treatment after 23 years!

Fortunately, the IRS requires you to file your "final" return for a partial year. You have 90 days from the date your club disbanded to file your federal return. I filed ours in August and bivio's software prepared the return. I'd suggest you pay off your members ASAP and have bivio complete your 2019 taxes before 1/21/2020. If you have to file a State tax return--that is a different story. I'm in California, which doesn't allow the filing of a partial year return and didn't even have 2019 forms available when I checked in July. If your state's requirements are the same, and the tax forms are available in early January, you may be able to have bivio do both your federal and state taxes B4 your subscription expires. Our subscription expires this month and I'm not about to spend $179 just to have our state taxes done. So, I will do them myself, and have been told to just use our 2018 return as a guide. There are individuals in this "forum" who have indicated if I run into a problem, they would assist me.

Hope this info helps, but don't wait, get your federal return taken care of while your subscription with bivio is still active. Back in July, bivio didn't have their State tax program for 2019 returns set up, even if I could have filed back then. I'd suggest you check with your state's requirements right away.

Bulls&Bears of Sun City Roseville, CA.
