When answering questions like this, there are two good places to start:
1. The Investor relations pages for the company. Often there is a FAQ section. For Chewy, this indicates it is a common stock traded on the NYSE. That is good.
2. Another is the wikipedia page that describes the company's history.
I still have the old Stock Analysis program and I got to Stock Central and get my SSG's from there, they then download into my Stock Central Software. I hope this helps. I went to my Stock Central, brought up an SSG on one of our stocks to try to go to the Data Tab and Company Basic Data, etc.
If you look at a SSG of CHWY and look under the "Data" tab in the upper right and click on the first option "Company Basic Data" you will see that the Stock Data does NOT click on the ADR link. A check mark here would indicate it is a foreign company. Also you can go directly to the company's website from your open SSG by clicking on "Research" tab in the upper right and selecting the 2nd option of "Company Website". That will take you directly to CHWY's website. It is clearly an American company.
I am still wondering about whether Chewy stock will be a problem with our taxes next year because it sounds like it is a British owned company. Does anyone know?
Our club is considering Chewy stock which is a little confusing in the ownership. This article says "
common stock and its related subsidiaries, effectively eliminating Chewy as a subsidiary of PetSmart. ... The leading US retailer acquired the pet e-commerce platform in May 2017. Chewy would continue to be owned by BC Partners, which acquired PetSmart and its subsidiaries in March 2015. BC Partners is a British company so we are wondering if that will cause us a problem when it comes to tax time.

OK, Minh. Forgot to mention these are official model clubs run by the Golden West Chapter of BetterInvesting. I am a member of the SoCal club and a Chapter director. As chapter secretary I receive most contact requests made thru the BI webpage.
The fastest way would be for you to contact me separately and I can forward your requests to the clubs.
I have spoken to the reps from both clubs and they are anxious to furnish you with any data or assistance you need and want to invite you to visit our clubs online.
