Gayle,

Only three. The NJ state extension for the partnership return is automatic if you flle for a federal extension. You only need to check the appropriate box on the NJ-1065 return when you file it, and attach a copy of federal Form 7004. NJ PART-200-T is only filed if you are making a payment to NJ.

Ira,

We have been filing the NJ-1065 electronically and as you know there have been some issues filing electronically in the past.  Currently we have an approach to file electronically with the state.  I can see the check box on NJ-1065 identifying that an "Application for Federal Extension is Attached".  My concern (based on the past problems with filing electronically) is how easy or difficult it will be to attach a copy of the federal Form 7004 when filing electronically.

Do you know if NJ's system will automatically prompt us to attach Form 7004 if the "Application for Federal Extension is Attached"?

Thanks for all your help and advice.

Please tell me exactly what our procedure should be.  Does each member file a 7004 with their Federal taxes or the does the club file a separate form.
We are in Connecticut and distressed trying to understand all this email discussion.

The club files a single 7004 for the club by March 15. If, for some reason, the members don't have all their paperwork by April 18, they can file a personal 4868 requesting an extension for their personal return.
