Hello! We are a club of 12 members. We currently own 30 different stocks having just sold off three stocks completely. Each member is responsible for tracking 2 or 3 and reporting on them from time to time. We're curious to know how many stocks other clubs hold. Sometimes our roster seems a bit unwieldy. What do you think? Thanks in advance! That's about what we have and we make a quick report every meeting with a Valueline and SSG. Hello! We are a club of 12 members. Our Club has fourteen members and at the moment we own fourteen stocks. We've probably had as many as twenty, but we also had eighteen members until recently. I've heard that a portfolio can be adequately balanced with about sixteen holdings. We've been a club for eighteen years. Our AIRR excluding cash (according to Bivio) is 12.2% Linda Glein Treasurer STAR Investment Club Hello! We are a club of 12 members. We are a club of 14 members and hold 24 stocks, a comfortable number for us. Members (excluding the President and Treasurer) each follow about 2 stocks as our portfolio shifts with purchases and sales. Our AIRR excluding cash (according to Bivio) is 10.7%. Robin Helen Keller was once asked if there was anything that could have been worse than losing her sight. Keller replied: "Yes, I could have lost my vision."
Typically, one or two stocks per member. More than that becomes too unwieldy and generally doesn't help the portfolio's performance.

My club currently has 6 members and 10 stocks. We've typically held between 1 and 2 stocks per member. Our IRR excluding cash is 10.9% since October 1999. Ira Smilovitz
We are 17 members currently holding 13 stocks (normally we are around 15 stocks). We typical have one stock assigned per person and assign stocks to officers last as these members already have elevated responsibilities. Our IRR since 2000 is 10%.

We are a club of 19 members. We own shares in 35 companies. Debi Thorne Our club of eight people own 10 stocks and two exchange traded funds (ETF's). We use the two ETF's to maintain Better Investing's recommended asset allocation in Large-, Medium- and Small-Cap stocks within our portfolio. Since we're generally heavy on Large-Caps, we hold VO (mid-cap index fund) and VB (small-cap index fund) that we don't do any research on. We meet monthly and members find no difficulty watching, reporting on and recommending a Buy, Hold or Sell rating on their assigned stocks (all within five minutes per stock). I like that idea - Hatchery. Our watch list is long and though we reference it every month, we often end up 'watching' a stock for so long w/o ever actually buying it, that we miss the buying opportunity and take it off the watch list.
