Transferring Stock shares
Our club is planning to transfer shares of a stock to
individual members' Schwab accounts. What considerations,
cautions and end of year tax issues should we keep in mind?
Also, one member would like to have her shares moved to her
Schwab wealth management account. is this possible?
Make sure you understand how the cost basis changes between partial and full withdrawals.

You didn’t specify which was taking place but there is a big difference in the cost basis calculation..

This question is based on moving a club members entire portfolio into her husbands portfolio, because she passed away recently. So it will be a full withdrawal or her financial portfolio but in order to do that we will be traveling 3 full stocks that we are invested in and I believe 2 partial stocks that we are invested in. Does that help? We came up with the price based on the day she passed away valuation statement.

Whatever you do make sure you follow your partnership agreement exactly.
And I suggest you complete all of the “paperwork” completely before you do anything to make certain you do it correctly.
Unwinding something done incorrectly can be very difficult to undo.
Not to mention expensive.

Are you saying to complete paperwork for Bivio or our clubs commitment to one another?

What paperwork do we need from Bivio and where would we get that? We thought we transferred stock through Schwab.

I'm not a club financial advisor. But as someone who has dealt with three estates in the last 12 months, there is likely an estate executor involved you might be coordinating with.

"See all human behavior as one of two things: either love, or a call for love." M. Williamson

So my initial question was about transferring shares of a
particular stock held by the club in a Schwab account to
each of the members' Schwab accounts. No one is
withdrawing. No one has passed away. Are there things we
should consider or special steps to take. Will this create
end of year tax filing issues?
If you are using bivio you should find what you need to do in the section below.

I am sure that iClub has a similar page.

First of all you need to find out if Schwab will do the. Transfers. I never had any luck with Schwab transferring stocks.

This will then be a partitial withdrawal.
The IRS rules are different for partial WD’s.
Again, I am sure that either club accounting system will accommodate this situation.
And your member will need the paperwork generated for their ’26 taxes.
