Attendence We have 20 members in pur stock club. Only 5 to 6 members attend the monthly meeting. And it is the same people. I find it real amusing to see such poor participation for years. What is happening in your stock club? We have a rule about attending meetings, if you miss too many without a valid reason you are out. We have 20 members in pur stock club. We have a minimum attendance requirement as part of our membership agreement. Must attend 6 meetings per year unless extenuating circumstances and the rest of the membership approves the absence. We too are miss three meetings in a 12 month period and you're out. There is another issue. I seem to remember the IRS has rules about clubs and absentee members. I think the issue is that if you allow that behavior you can be construed to be operating a mutual fund.
Your members are bored. Or, they feel like it doesn't matter if they attend. And, they may not understand and don't want to admit it. Make EDUCATION an element in EVERY meeting. Make the meetings FUN. Use Visuals - preferably showing on a large screen smart TV. Show your portfolio, show the graphs, show the SSGs. Keep the meetings to a tight agenda. Make sure that every member has an assignment to follow a stock. Let them know they are expected to report in person QUARTERLY. Linda We have 20 members in pur stock club. Our club also has mandatory attendance requirements of 6 meetings out of 12 each year. We meet in person but have a zoom option for members unable to attend in person. Anyone not making that number is automatically out at the end of the year unless the club votes to retain them. We have given passes to members that couldnât make meetings due to illness or changing job requirements. All members, except the treasurer, are assigned a stock and are expected to report on it quarterly. The monthly meeting agenda that goes out in advance has the reporting list. We also have an end of summer picnic before our September meeting and a holiday party in December. The social connections help keep members interested in the club.
