Social Security Numbers on Bivio

Social Security Numbers on Bivio A concern has been raised in our club about our social security numbers being on the Bivio website. Wondering if there is anything that can be done to delete those or is that something we don't need to be concerned about. Carla Hanson MDI Investment Club Janesville WI Hi Carla, Our goal is to provide you with the highest quality service. Bivio is a highly secure service. All tax IDs (SSNs and EINs) are stored in our database in an encrypted form to which only three people have the key. Our servers are located at Linode, a subsidiary of Akamai. You can read more about their physical security here: https://www.akamai.com/legal/security We have been operating bivio.com since 1999. We have not had a single security breach during this time. That said, social security numbers are only needed for the club's tax returns. One option you have is to clear any member social security numbers now, then at tax time enter them again, e-file or generate your paper return, and then clear them. Some clubs choose to do this as a reasonable security precaution. Club officers or individual members can delete social security numbers by doing this: 1. Go to Administration > Roster 2. Click on the member name 3. Click on the Tax ID link 4. Clear the tax ID and click "OK" I hope this message puts you and your members at ease. Justin bivio Support Before deciding to delete SSNs and re-enter them at tax time, realize that each time you enter a SSN there is a risk of mistyping the number. An incorrect SSN on a K-1 is subject to a $340 penalty for each occurrence. Ira Smilovitz On Fri, Sep 11, 2026 at 11:08 AM bivio Customer Support <support@bivio.com> wrote: Hi Carla, Very helpful.
